My name is Kevin Winstead and I am the driver education instructor at Hudson High School. Your son/daughter may register for driver education in the high school office. The Iowa Department of Transportation requires 30 hours of classroom training, therefore no student can miss a class.

The DOT also requires six hours of in car training. Students can not miss a drive time. Students must have a learners permit and to get the most of the in car training students should have held their permit a minimum of six months before taking driver education. Before students can get a school permit or their intermediate license they must drive 20 hours with their parents. In addition to their permit students need to bring to class a spiral notebook, three ring binder and a pen or pencil.
